Vikki James (real name Victoria Horn) joined the New Seekers when she was 17. As Paul Layton explains:
"Vicky was introduced to us by our new manager at that time ... We had been working for a while as a 4-piece and he felt that if we were going to revive some fresh interest in the group, then we should revert to our original format of two girls / three boys ... We were immediately impressed with her vocal talent and maturity. She already had worked in various musical projects and had experience performing live."
