New Seekers

These pages give details about those hard to find and sought after recordings which New Seekers' fans may want to collect, including releases on flexi disc, vinyl, cassette and CD. Some of CDs listed feature recordings made by members of the New Seekers before they joined the group.

If you're missing any of these from your collection, try finding them using the On the Net guide to record collecting.

Collectors' Items: Coca-Cola jingles

The Buy The World A Coke ad was originally used as a radio commercial in the USA in 1970. It first aired as a TV commercial in 1971. Recorded on an Italian hilltop near Rome, it featured 200 young people clutching bottles of Coke and miming to the voices of the New Seekers. The ad made a big impact on the public and the Coca-Cola company was inundated with letters asking about the song. They released it as a single but radio stations were understandably reluctant to give free air time to a commercial. Sensing that they might have a huge hit on their hands, the New Seekers hastily re-recorded the song with amended lyrics. With all references to Coke now removed, the song went on to become a multi-million selling single - I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing.

Twenty years later the ad was re-made, with many of the original cast reappearing on the famous hilltop with their children. Eve Graham recorded a new vocal and appeared on the ad with Linda Neary, who had mimed to Eve's vocal on the original 1971 ad.
