Many of these contain the New Seekers' original recordings featuring Lyn Paul but many contain re-recordings of the New Seekers' hits by a later line-up. The German version of the Polydor LP The Best of the New Seekers, released on vinyl, cassette and CD. This album was also released by Polydor as part of their Music for the Millions series. The Polydor albums were only released on vinyl and cassette, so the Motive CD is worth hunting out, particularly as it is the only New Seekers' CD to feature the song Eighteen Carat Friend.

Lyn Paul was reported to be "furious" when she found out about this album. Although it featured recordings made when Lyn was a member of the New Seekers, the album sleeve pictured "Lyn's look-alike replacement in the group, Kathy Ann Rae."

Up until the release of the CD The Singles in 2003, this had been the only New Seekers' compilation CD to include Sing Hallelujah, the group's last single for the Polydor label. It is still the only CD to include the tracks: Blowin' In The Wind, Gentle On My Mind and Unwithered Rose. It is also the only CD to include the version of Here, There And Everywhere featuring Keith Potger on lead vocal. Other compilation CDs use the version featuring Lyn Paul on lead vocal.
