New Seekers singlesThe New Seekers released 29 singles in the UK. Lyn Paul sings on 16 of them, including all six of their Top 10 hits. Most of the singles from the New Seekers' hey day were also released in the USA, Europe, the Far East and Australia. However, these singles appeared on different record labels from the UK releases: early US releases were on Elektra, later ones on MGM / Verve; European releases were on Philips. Some featured different tracks on the B-side and a few were not released in the UK at all. Prior to representing the UK in the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest, the New Seekers had already been successful in the singles charts of Europe - Never Ending Song Of Love had spent 23 weeks in the German charts and I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing had made it to number 2 in Norway. However, it was the Eurovision entry, Beg, Steal Or Borrow, that became the New Seekers' biggest European hit - a number 1 in Norway and a Top 10 hit in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Note: some of the New Seekers' singles released in Poland only appeared on the group's albums in other countries, notably: I'll Be Home and One (from the album Beautiful People) and Everything Changing (from the album Now). They have, as a consequence, become much sought-after by die-hard fans. Some of the New Seekers' recordings were also released in Poland on rectangular flexi-discs. |
