by Val Mabbs
An interview with Roger Cook, during which he revealed that his jingle-writing days with Roger Greenaway were over: "Basically we've outgrown it. I don't mean that in a flash sense because jingles were good for me, but it became very much a labour... It brought Roger Greenaway and I 'Teach The World To Sing' in the end which sold five million. Well that's great." He also talked about his band Blue Mink, who had signed up the New Seekers' producer David Mackay: "I respect the work that Dave does. That doesn't mean that we're going to become like the New Seekers though, because with all due reverence to the group, I think we're more a musicians group."

Big day looming for Peter Doyle (page 8)
As the New Seekers' single Goodbye Is Just Another Word slipped down the chart, news came of Peter Doyle's first solo single since leaving the group, Rusty Hands Of Time. Peter's manager David Joseph is quoted as saying: "Our intention was for Peter to write and record his own material, so this single wasn't exactly what we had in mind for a first release. He'd recorded it prior to leaving the group but we all felt that as it was one of his best performances on a very strong song... well, it'd be a waste if nothing happened to it."

The New Seekers
Albert Hall (page 17)
by Michael Wale
Michael Wale reviewed the New Seekers' concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
"An apt juxtaposition of pop fixtures last night had the brilliantly original American singer-songwriter Michael Murphey appearing... at Ronnie Scott's and the efficiently slick New Seekers charming the Albert Hall thousands from half past eight onwards...
Michael Murphey writes all his own material, which, of course, the New Seekers do not. Yet they are the perfect purveyors of other people's works... As it is, they have progressed greatly since I last saw them two years ago supporting Neil Diamond at the Festival Hall. Their version of the Who's Pinball Wizard is the best yet, certainly better than on the album of Tommy."
